High School Assignments
Marching Band Students are expected to memorize music for the show. Memorization tests will be administered throughout the season.
Home Football Games are graded like any performance. Students not in attendance lose full credit. Students with improper articles of the uniform will lose 20% of their grade. Untimely arrival is loss of credit as well. Problems with behavior, performance, attendance, or other issues may result in performing on the sideline during a show.
Playing tests on concert music in class will be administered throughout the school year. Students are expected to have all music prepared on the expected dates.

Middle School Assignments
Weekly playing Assessments will be administered at director discretion. Students will become comfrotable playing in front of peers and performance ability will become much stronger. Playing tests are a stronger assessment tool than practice cards, but if students need to be motivated practice cards may be brought back at anytime as a positive tool for advancing skills.
Universal Practice Card :
Students in 6 - 8 grade are required to fill out practice cards weekly. I recommend 20 minutes of practicing a day. Students need to fill out a specific goal that they intend to work on. (Example: Measures 24-52 of Phantom of the Opera with Correct Notes and Rhythms.) I do not care about the length of practice if the student is setting good goals and accomplishing them in their practice sessions. It is better to spend 5 focused minutes on a specific goal than mindlessly play for 20 minutes to fulfill practice card assignments.
